[MR2] anyone left out there?

Dennis -

I am wondering - since maybe 2 others would join me form the North - if you'd like to meet in San Simeon - maybe in the Fall?

Quite a change from 10-12 years ago but then there are so fewer 2s!

If we meet in the Fall they have a night tour - available only during that time - locals dress up in period costume and you are supposed to feel like a Hollywood Star coming up for the weekend.

Maybe a drive in the Wine Country? Lunch on the coast? There's a nice seafood restaurant in Morro Bay - or at least their used to be ;-)

Just noticed - with a quick Google - it has changed too ;-) But there are plenty of places.

Anyone from So Cal want to join?

  Bill,

I would go for that ride but I'm a long way south. In fact I am sure I could get a few more family members to also drive there MR2s if it would be close to Escondido.

If those of you from the Bay area to Sacramento want a drive?

I've been organizing "First Sunday Drives" for my other club and I was thinking of doing one in reverse, starting from Fairfield (for an easy meet from the Bay area) - going down Montezuma Rd to Rio Vista (where Clint Eastwood made a movie) - through Rio Vista - use 2 of the smallest ferry boats (4-6 cars) across some sloughs, past the Grand Island Mansion - which - despite its isolation - scene of some big Hollywood parties in the 20s - lessee - back down the river and lunch at Moores Riverboat? That will put you on Hwy 12 and an easy drive back to the Bay Area.

My only requirement - driving within the speed limit.

I sponsored a drive to San Simeon some years ago (how many years ago was that Byron?) and with the frivolity there were speeds of 120 on some isolated roads. One guy ran into a tree and we (as a group) ran a woman off the road (fortunately there were no injuries).

I don't need that these days...

So if you are interested in going on a drive with my requirements - let me know and I'll set something up in the next few weeks...

I remember in years past we'd have 20 cars - and more - so I will be curious who's left ;-)

  Bill
