Jeremy - this has happened to me twice in the last couple of weeks. I am at a drive though - one - a Starbucks - and the other In N Out - and the 20 something cashier admires my car but doesn't know what it is ;-) 

I am ambivalent on the compliment; OTOH it's nice that they appreciate your car but on the other it is so old - with its owner - it is relegated to "interesting relics" ;-) 

...and my car is 6 years older than yours!

Yesterday a "kid" came by while I was working in the garage.  He was
selling home security systems, but we ended up talking cars.  He was
admiring my wife's '12 WRX and going on about it when he spotted my '91
Turbo in the garage.  He had never even heard of an MR2 and was surprised
to learn a "cool looking" car was older than him.
