There are probably any number of things that would work. ATF is rumored
to be a pretty effective penetrant as well. The penetrating action of
WD40 is likely where the value is, not in its ability to lubricate once
the vehicle evaporates. It'll be flushed or burned away in short order
once the engine runs and the oil is changed, anyway.
