I'm with Erika on this -- if the road is paved and maintained well
enough for 120 mph antics, then it's open to the public who are not
expecting 120 mph antics. Sure it's fun -- until someone screws up.
I don't buy that "nearly deserted" hogwash -- if the road is
maintained well enough for 120mph, then someone is spending time and
money doing that maintenance for a reason. If it were truly "neary
deserted", it wouldn't be maintained well enough for 120mph, and there
wouldn't be cops patrolling it often enough to result in one ticket in
9 years. The odds of that on a deserted road don't add up.
