My MkI has been jumpy for 5-10 years, ever since a road trip thru Ely
NV froze it one night and knocked it off, the tranny connector itself
being loose I think, not the gear inside, tho it's been a long time
since I worried about it. It's still close enough and the odometer
seems accurate enough compared to other vehicles making the same trip.
