  That only serves to reinforce some advice I got from Ken Blake.  I've
  bought one of the (at last count) six 3S-GTE factory shortblocks left
  in the country, have it in storage for when I need it, and will limit
  my horsepower goals to a modest 275 rear wheel hp; air intake, boost
  controller, Omori boost gauge, fuel cut defender, intercooler,
  turbocharger & turbocharger plumbing, exhaust system, and perhaps some
  headwork.

  That should keep me amused enough until I win the lottery or something.

  That is proof they didn't know what they were doing. There is a severe
  shortage of good machine shops in this country. the ones who seem to
  care have old machines that can't maintain the tolerances we demand,
  and the ones with the newer machines run so much stuff through
  (usually domestic stuff) that they don't even want import business.
