[MR2] What happened to my fuel gauge?

I was able to fix the stuck float without too much hassle. I only needed to remove the plastic around the shifter base, ash tray, and the plastic trim around the radio to gain access to the fuel level sender. I jiggled the sender unit after removing the screws that secure it to the fuel tank, and the fuel level came up to where it should be.

This also allowed me to confirm the connections for my prosport oil pressure gauge which is pegged at the upper end. My understanding is that this is usually the sign of a bad ground to the sending unit, but everything checks out at both the sender and the gauge. My guess is there is a bad ground within the sending unit since I've verified a good ground going to the terminal. Oh well, at least the fuel gauge works now!
