Its my belief that we have some people sign on for the purpose of hacking and getting email addresses for spam. How many here got an email in the last couple of days from mr2announce about russian brides?
My signature should read, "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean somebody is not out to get you".

My wife manages a mailing list, and she sees this all the time. Person A
writes the list asking to be unsubscribed; she replies, CCing the list,
pointing out that they can do that themselves and the link is at the bottom
of every message; and person B replies, also CCing the list, asking to be
unsubscribed too. All this despite the fact that they had to have used the
automated interface to subscribe in the first place!
It's unfathomable how some people can reach adulthood without growing out of
the laziness and self-centeredness of infancy.
All that said, perhaps the link in the MR2 list footer could be more clearly
labeled, with "to unsubscribe, click here" or some such.
