Hi Ron,
Driving at 70mph and almost all highway I can easily get 35mpg with my
86 Auto. My 86 is fully loaded so that may hurt it a bit. I also have an
87 auto but I haven't driven it enough to get an accurate picture of its
mileage use, aside from the 80mph+ dash after I purchase it where it got
low 30s.

enjoy!

> The car I'm looking at now is a clean low mileage 86. Just wondering what sort of mpg I can expect setting the cruise at 70, say, and only turning 3000 rpm or so. I like the fact that it has a minimum of "doodad's," with a tintop and manual windows. With my long legs, I really like cruise on the long trips I sometimes do, but I'm sure an auto wouldn't have been as much fun as my 87 5 spd zipping down the PCH in CA, as I recently mentioned here. It didn't have cruise tho, and on those long stretches of empty spaces out west it would've been really nice. A little better mpg too I think. I might eventually convert the auto to a 5 spd if I like it enough.
