[MR2] Suspect suspension problem... Concerning thumping sound! Urgent help needed.

On my  1992 mk2   mr2 there is a loud bang when I go over 'lumps' in
the road. Usually the car would ride over these deviations but now is
struggling.
I first noticed the problem arising when I put full stearing lock on.
There was some strange creaking noises arising just as I reached full
lock and this problem only appeared to come about in full lock in only
one direction(and from the wheel which now cant handle the ride)

Riding on a smooth surface I can still here there is a problem as the
wheel concerned is rumbling and knocking gently.
Generaly the ride of the car feels bad, almost as if something has
come adrift. Has any one got an idea of what might be the problem.
