The breaking off of the tabs would be easy but the diode, well, do you have a
picture or even a description of what size diode (are they pretty much
universal?) or the location and direction that the diode would need to be placed

I'm assuming that the diode has to pass the total current for the window
motor. In that case you need one that can withstand 12V (listed as Peak Inverse
Voltage). Easy, most will stand 100v or more. Then it has to pass enough
current. I don't know how much current the motor takes. A few amps ????
If the diode is feeding a circuit or a relay, the amp rating will be a lot
smaller. I'm totally guessing here, but it's possible that the circuit
board has a place for the diode and a symbol that will tell you the
direction. The spacing between the contacts will hint at the current
rating of the diode. BTW, going too big in either PIV or current
rating won't hurt.
Hope this helps.

I know that the 86.5 to 91 Supra had a simular switch that came apart rather

The SW2X 91-95 also have an auto-up feature that's been disabled. You can
