Likely the known problem (recall) in that water gets into the door wiring
harness where there are bare splices for the grounds. From there the water
will work its way through the wire, corrodes the strands and where the
harness goes from the door to the cabin, it will break the wire strands from
repeated motion of opening the door until weird things happen like:
- Door speaker issues (cracking, no sound)
- Power windows (no up or down, etc)
- Power door locks (no work, or randomly work)
To check for corrosion, remove the panel in the bottom of the foot well that
covers where the door hardness enters the cabin and plugs into the main
harness. Unplug the door harness connector and inspect the front/back for
"green"/corrosion on the pins. If you find any, remove the door harness,
rip apart and replace the wires (PITA)
My original '91T had one door fixed under warranty and I did the other one
after the warranty was up :)
