[MR2] Door Power Window Switch

Hi Bob,
          The tabs are easy. (and obvious) I used a pair of diagonal cutters. The place where the diode goes is clearly marked
on the PCB. You can't get to the top of the pcb to install it with all of the other discrete components, but the holes are
there, and the solder pads, so it's easy enough to add it on the bottom. My local electronics store only had the diode in a
package of 100, so I have a bit of a diode surplus, even after helping several other local owners perform the modification. If
you want to email me your address off-list, I'd be happy to drop a couple of them in the mail to you.

Credit for this mod goes to Ricky Benitez (RickyB) of MR Controls for telling me about it, then demonstrating it.

Best regards,

Ken

My 91 is sitting 3200 miles from me right now on jack stands but I would be interested in doing this...

The breaking off of the tabs would be easy but the diode, well, do you have a picture or even a description of what size diode
(are they pretty much universal?) or the location and direction that the diode would need to be placed on the PCB?

Bob

<SNIP>
I know that the 86.5 to 91 Supra had a simular switch that came apart rather easily. One of the switches broke and I was able
to cobble two different switches back together and I was able to turn back on the Auto Up feature that some US lawyer must
have forced them to turn off. </SNIP>

The SW2X 91-95 also have an auto-up feature that's been disabled. You can re-enable it by adding a diode on the underside of
the pcb and cutting two plastic tabs off the back of the switch.
