[MR2] No display on 3-in-1 stereo

If the screen is completely black... like it was painted black behind the glass then the screen has delaminated and you need a new screen

On the pioneer unit in the Lexus, it is a simple thing to replace and Pioneer was selling replacements.

Not much to see inside and if you can't find a screen... well not much to look at there.

It is not the bulbs, the display is completely black.  Everything else works 
on the stereo, including the illumination when I turn on the parking lights.

I suspect it is just a solder joint gone bad somewhere inside.  If I find 
time at the weekend I'll take it out and see if I can find anything obvious.
