David, your essay back in 1995 describes all of us with mr2s (or any fun car to drive).

A few issues ago Automobile Magazine had an article that was so true - the author made the point that there are cars (primarily older) that while the performance envelope doesn't fit with some of the latest and greatest, are actually more fun to drive because you get to use more of the power band and gears on public streets.

What is the point in driving a Porsche that can go 190 if you can only use a portion of that power and gears on public streets?

He wrote why I have liked my mr2 all these years. It's a little street racer.

I remember those days when we'd get 3 digests per day!

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks to everybody who has kept the web site
and the mailing list going over the years after I had to bail the first time
(when the postings were coming so fast and furious that three issues of
the digest were coming out every day).

I'd like to add something I was inspired to write some years ago:

http://www.mr2.com/TEXT/MiddleAgedMan.html

I'm having some of those feelings again,
even though calling myself "middle-aged" would no longer be accurate.
