[MR2] Car theft in Phoenix AZ - would you take a low mileage MR2 SC down there?

I went through AZ in November and YES you need AC. Alarm probably will not do much good anyway - picture a tow truck backing up to your car with the alarm going off and some bs repo paperwork. LoJack would be a better investment. And maybe an apartment with a private garage. Out of sight, out of mind. Theres also that thing that works sort of like the club but it goes on the brake/clutch pedal. If you cant press the clutch you cant start it right? You just want to make it a pain in the as$ to steal the car. Any car can be stolen. But if they have to go through a garage, pedal "Club", etc etc etc its going to be more difficult to steal so they will probably move on.

Take it down there, get a apartment with a garage, get lojack, hell, get a wheel boot lol....

Subject: [MR2] Car theft in Phoenix AZ - would you take a low mileage MR2 SC down there?

Later this month I'm going to be starting a six month contract gig in Phoenix, AZ.  I'll need a car while I'm down there,  so I was planning to drive down one of my MR2s.  Specifically, I've been planning to drive down my nearly perfect, totally stock 1989 MR2 SC with only 31,000 miles on the clock.  It was my first choice because primarily because the air conditioning works perfectly (as does everything else on this car).

But while looking for a place to stay, I ran across all sorts of information telling me that Phoenix has a high crime rate and a big problem with car theft.  Now I'm waffling.  I'd be upset if the car were stolen, since it would not be easy to replace.  BUT: I don't want to alter the car in any way... including by putting in an alarm system.

For any of you in or near Glendale and Phoenix:
- Should I be concerned?
- Would I be foolish to keep an alarm-free MR2 SC down there?
- Do I need air conditioning in AZ October - March?

Thanks,
