[MR2] MkII: tune-up

Hi Donald,

Got a compressor? I will send you my boost leak test set. It's two sealed pipe stubs, one is 2.25" (the diameter of the
compressor outlet), the other is 2.5" (the diameter of the throttle body inlet). One of them has a fitting to connect it to an
air compressor. It allows you to pressurize the intercooler tract without starting the car. I have no use for them anymore as
the intercooler piping on the Supra is 3" diameter.

Here's a pic:

Most people should be able to fabricate a similar product using parts from their local plumbing department. The sticking point
is that you must have access to a compressor to use it.

No mocking here. I"m chasing a leak myself. I know its there, but A/F meter readings tell me its there. Exhaust too loud to
hear a vacuum hiss.

A good idea to check all hoses occasionally.

several years, feeling down on power. Tune-ups made no difference and trips
to mechanics yielded either shrugs or "sounds like you blew your motor." It
was clearly running rich, as the gas mileage was terrible and I'd get a
small puff of black smoke and a whiff of gas when starting up.

under boost, I finally looked very closely at the hoses running from the
turbo to the intercooler to the throttle body. From above, they all looked
fine, but when I ran my hand underneath one, I felt a hairline crack, right
at the hose clamp.

lately, take a good look/feel at your boost hoses.
