[MR2] Mk1 Check Engine Light on Decel and Fuel Leak

I agree with Dave on the CEL. I have a similar problem on a MK1 -
driving at constant speed, around 60mph, the light will come on.
Decelerating, or blipping the throttle turns it off. 
The stored code indicates O2 sensor. One day I'll replace it.

As for the fuel leak, another place to check are the connections to the
vapour trap thingy (that weird bit of plumbing that goes vertically up
the firewall behind the black carboard shroud) . I've had the hose
clamps where it joins onto the fuel tank come loose and had a leak
there.

You should still be able to check the code.  Most codes are stored in
the ECU whether the light stays on or not.  My guess is that your
O2 sensor may be showing its age.

The filler tube on the gas tank is rubber and subject to deterioration.
Since it doesn't leak when the car faces downhill, I'd look at this area
on the tank since it's at the back.
