[MR2] High Mileage MR2s

Felix if you have 422,000 you have to have the all time record. I have never 
heard of an MR2 - any model - with that model. I think to have 800K on a 
4A-GE would be impossible. That is Mercedes diesel territory - with the 
occasional American V8.

I have 267,000 miles and am on the 4th engine. None of the engines have 
"worn out" - head gaskets, carbon...

My current one - used the long block from a Japanese donor - and it runs 
better than any engine I have had.

It has to have 10-15 hp more than stock because of the higher compression. 
And I use Chevron Supreme which seems to really keep it clean.

There is an annoying rattle in the front - I am suspecting the front sway 
bar.

My 86 NA is at 422,000.  Most engine work it has ever had was swapping
the intake manifold last summer to pass smog.  Running pretty fine,
burns a quart of oil every oil change, squeaks and rattles of course.

I have heard of some kind of mileage registry but never seen it.

Last time I mentioned my mileage several years ago, someone said there
was an east coast doctor who had double what I had at the time, I think.
