It depends on what, if anything, is wrong with the existing 3SGTE. I wouldn't toss a perfectly good Gen 2 engine to put in a
Gen 3, but if I had a blown Gen 2, or I was looking to swap a 3SGTE into a MKI or MKIINA, I would definitely go with the Gen 3
engine, as long as I wasn't planning to make more than 350RWHP or so. (at that point, you are already replacing everything
that makes the Gen3 superior, so there is no real advantage)

This sounds like just installing a GEN III engine would be the best idea.
