The BGB that I have suggests GL-3, GL-4 or GL-5 for gear oil. Everything that has been discussed has been at least GL-4 so I am thinking it is simply "personal preference" at this point. My personal preference is Redline 75-140NS based on a discussion with Redline engineers about 10 - 12 years ago.

And does anyone remember what the torque specs are on the E153 drain and filler plug - something more than the "sufficiently tight" or what ever it was listed as in the BGB?
