In the ongoing saga of getting my '86 to pass smog (valves retimed;
vacuum leak fixed by swapping the intake manifold; spark plug wires),
my mechanic friend ran a compression check and got 130 something on
all four. How does this rate on the scale of things?
The car has 406,000 miles and still loves shifting at 7K. I don't
recall ever having a compression check before or ever having the
valves retimed. This is far and away the most work ever done on it.
The new wires won't come in until Monday (ordered late Friday
afternoon) and I won't able to smog it again until Friday. It failed
on the hydrocarbons enough to be a gross polluter. I oughta sue 'em
for calling my lovely little car fat!
