[MR2] New tire recommendations?

My Taurus oem tires were some line of Contintal and they were the worst tire
I've ever used. Didn't matter what the temperature or road condition, there
was no traction at all. Maybe not fair to judge all tires made by
Continental by whatever line I was unlucky to own, but that's my 2 cents.

Subject: [MR2] New tire recommendations?
About time for new tires on my DD (Honda S2000, 215/45-17 F 245/40-17 R).
Been browsing reviews/tests on Tire Rack & every enthusiast car forum I can
find. My OEM's were Bridgestone Potenza RE050's. They weren't bad; look
like they'll barely make 20K miles. I was assuming I'd get a set of Michelin
Pilot PS2's or Goodyear F1 GS-D3's, but found some intriguing alternatives:
* Continental ContiSportContact 3 - Good test scores, better UTQG than
PS2 or OEM, lightest tire by 4lb each; price ~ 75% of PS2.
* Sumitomo HTR Z III - pretty new tire, surprisingly good test scores,
even better UTQG; price < 50% of PS2.
Wondering if anyone in this DL has any experience with these or other good
sporting tires. No track or auto-x, just spirited driving.
