Hey people,
My '91 n/a needs new rear tires, in the 205/60 R14 size.
I always used to get them from a dealer near me that seems to always have
them on hand. Now, however, they seem as scarce as hen's teeth(!).
I have found several places that have 205 14" tires, BUT they are 65 and 70
sidewall height instead of the stock 60. Walmart has Goodyears in 205/75(!)
R14, W speed.
I know these tires will at least go on the rims... a few months ago I had a
blowout in my '01 Volvo C70 conv. on a family outing to SC from GA. A tire
store in Anderson, SC said they had rear tire in the size I needed (225/35
ZR17) but they did not. They ended up GIVING me two 225/55 ZR17 tires for my
car...and who am I to turn down free tires (plus I was stranded!)?
The only difference is that the car was taller in the rear... seems
sportier!!! ..and oh yeah.. sometimes the TRACTION CONTROL starts acting up.. all
the more reason to turn it off!! ;-)
Anyway, anyone have any experience with going with a taller sidewall (65-75
height) on their MR2 MKII? Will I be experiencing some tire rub against the
body?
As the tires I need are rear tires, will having 60 sidewalls in front and 75
in the rear make me look like a "boy racer" and attract young asian girls
(my WIFE especially wants an answer to THIS one...!)?
Thanks in advance,
Craig W.
