How long has it been since you checked out the spark plug wires? You
say it varies with the engine speed, and it's ticking. If the radio's
interference rejection has died, everything around would be intruding.
It seems to me that rules out a radio problem.
If all the plugs were getting into the radio, there would be a buzz that
varied with the engine speed, but one wire arcing to something that runs
by the antenna wire would tick (at 1/8 RPM, right?). Try replacing the
plug wires.
