Have your replaced the rack bushing?

The bushing feels fine even when they are bad.  

I only replace the first one I did because I was pissed that I had bought a
part the list suggested and it obviously wasn't bad. One the bushing was
replace the noise was magically gone. 

I really really doubt it is the upper strut mount.

If this was any other car I would have the same opinion as the mechanic
does.

I replaced the upper strut mounts on my 1985 years ago (before this list was
really going) and it was nothing but the rack bushing.

It isn't a safety issue, just a noise issue

Hi guys.  Sorting through some long neglected minor "issues" on my 88 NA, I 
have a sharp knock up front whne going over bumps.  Good ball joints, new 
sway bar links, tight rack.  I'm too busy to look at it myself at the 
moment, and before an impending fun drive down through the NC mountains next

week I'd  like to get it fixed, so I turned it over to a mechanic friend who

thinks it might be the upper strut mounts/brg.  Handling feels fine - just a

bit noisy.  Does this sound right?  Cost I should expect?  Dealer part only?

Probably no time to get it myself.  TIA, Ron.
