Subject: [MR2] MKII lady needs assistance in Tucson area

If you are able to help, please respond to froozoo at myexcel.com and not the
list. It would be nice to know the final outcome though.
Here is what she posted on the MR2 parts list:
> I recently had to switch out the stock engine on my 1991 normally
> aspirated MR2 for a JDM engine (2.0L). I took my car to the shop to
> have the AC repaired and was told that the pulley will only
> accommodate two belts. It needs a third belt for the AC. Anyone else
> run into this before? What did you do? I live in Tucson, AZ, so AC is a
MUST.
> Please keep your explanation simple enough that a GIRL can understand
> it. Thanks in advance.

Here is what I responded:
> The NA (and the turbo) has a belt for the alternator and a belt for
> the AC. No other that I know of. What else do you have that requires a
belt.
> The 3s-ge engine from Japan also has 2 belts, I believe.

Then she said:
>Hi. Thanks for your reply. I don't think I have anything else that
>would need a pulley. I have my car at a place that does only Japanese
>cars, so I would HOPE that they know what they are talking about. ????

At this point my SCAM antenna began to vibrate
> As much as it pains me to say, I've found through the years that men
> running garages tend to take advantage of women about fixing their cars.
> They take advantage of everybody, but a woman going in by herself is
> like dropping a doped up zebra in the lion cage.

and I asked he if she'd mind me posting her problem to the list. She is now
poised for a MR2 knight in the area to lend a hand.
