His daughter was driving an X 19 at the time and the name is therefore probably a nod to the inspiration of the first budget mid-engined sports car. I am afraid that I never owned an MR2 and leap frogged straight to a Lotus Esprit V8. The latest incarnation of the MR2 is an absolutely sublime experience to drive and if I hadn't passed an Esprit on my way home from the test drive I can safely say that I would definitely have bought one!

@earthlink.net) (mail.sunsetporsche.com) I own a 1991 MR2 Turbo manual 5 speed. Nothing(except maybe a Lotus Elise)can take corners like I can. Period! I have Dunlop A2 Sport Plus all season radials on the machine and it's amazing how it hugs corners at high speeds. It is totally stock and I was lucky to find a one owner car. The original owner was an engineer and took meticulous care of the car. I surprise Boxters and Z3s all the time. They don't know what an MR2 is but after they see my tail lights after a few curves I'm sure they wonder "what was that little red car that just blew off my doors?" I've seen some puzzled expressions in my rear view mirrors. Surprisingly, guys between 18 and 30 seem to know what it is, many compliments from them. If anyone can find one of these close to stock or stock, you'd be very lucky. Easily the most bang for buck sporting machine in the world. Enjoy if you have one or can find one.

It is probably best that I listened, not for their reason but because it's so low to the ground I don't know how I would have made it through Detroit's snow bank filled winters. Now I'm in my 40's and live in a southern climate I have finally purchased one of the cars of my dreams - and its a blast.Steve
