I'm looking to getting a MR2. I will do any generation, but I really want a MkII. If it's a MkII, I really want a turbo, and T-Tops helps too! MKIII's are great as well. I like Yellow, Red, Black, and the Dark Blue. Gonna have to be manual.

I'm in the Colorado Area, 81003.

My car has 136k~ on chassis, and 49K~ on engine. Is still driven often, so miles may increase slightly. Car is in excellent running order, and just really looking to downsize. I'd really like a MR2 + Cash, if someone can do.

GIve me a call at (719) 406-0718.

Rearended by a semi - twice!!!

:furious:I was in my MR2 on my way to the last OSU home game last night and I got hit by a semi at low speed (during rush hour stop and go traffic). It knocked me forward about 15 -20 ft (I had the clutch in and wasn't on the brakes). I was far enough in front of the truck to where he could easily see me out his windshield had he been paying attention, so I stopped the car right there and began to get out and approach him. As I had stepped one foot out of the car and began standing, he hit me again!!! Anyway, I got an estimate today... $5901.76. This SUCKS cuz that will definately total my car out, and I love my car. It is a '94 n/a 5speed in really good shape and I know I won't be able to find one as nice for what the insurance company will give me when they total it out. I am soooo bummed right now. I wanted a second gen MR2 since I was 15 (I'm now 28), and I FINALLY found a nice one and bought it and now its totalled!!! So I pose the question: "Now what?" I owe $$ on it, so I can probably buy it back and pay it off, but I won't have the money leftover to fix it and its still a salvaged title 15 yr old car that I can't get full coverage insurance on, so I am probably better off looking for a different one (which I won't find for NADA retail or whatever the insurance bastards will pay me). I could find someone to bid it REALLY low and fi it as I go. I could use the $$ to pay it off and the rest of the $$ as a down payment on a 370Z (or insert any other newish cool car, that's just the first one that comes to mind), but I don't really want a big payment. Open to suggestions. Thanks.

Ok I never have and depending on the advice I get, never will.

But has anyone cut stock springs on there 91 2nd gen?

If so, how much of a drop? How much did you cut off? and how much of the spring rate it change?

I know it's stupid and many people are against it, but if a slight cut will improve the handling and lower the car, I may do it.

Honda Engine in the AW11 - Pitchforks Anyone? (J35)

Alright guys, slow down, don't jump to conclusions out of the gate. I think I might have devised a plan to swap a Honda motor into the MK1 that isn't just plain idiotic. I know how all of you purist have responded to this sort of inquiry in the past, and it wasn't pretty. You're free to flame me as you like, but I think my reasoning on this one is sound so hear me out.

ENGINE CANDIDATE: Honda Odyssey J35A6, 3,471cc 60* V6 with J32A2 Pistons

TRANNY CANDIDATE: Acura TL Type-S 6 Speed Manual

Reasoning:
* The J motor is cheaper (My friend has both motors, J32 & J35 sitting in his storage unit right now and he'll give them to me for a song)
* Guys over in the Honda crowd are swapping the J32A2 pistons out of the TL Type-S into these Odyssey motors (making the CR something like 11.8:1) and making 290hp at the wheels.
* It's intake manifold design is more conducive to MR placement, at least in the MK1 with less space than the MK2.... hopefully I can get it in without having to chop up a bulkhead
* The 6 speed, apart from the fact that I can get these motors very cheap and that they make great power, this is the main reason for choosing this direction
* The 6 Speed is a cable box so making it work in an MR vehicle shouldn't be too much trouble. The Evora isn't going to be coughing up the 6 speed for the GR anytime soon.... at least not for a decent price.
* The new TL Type-S motors have very nice inlet manifolds and they are a direct swap
* Piss people off
* Do something different

The plan is to buy the motors in the next few days and sit on them until the funds are accumulated to move forward on this. I plan on putting fresh bearings, rings, of course head gaskets, and a fresh hone on the motor.

I'll have to find a 6 speed for it, they can be found for about $600.

Megasquirt kit will be on it's way for Christmas and I'll get that up and going on the 4AGE first, but will have it on hand for the J motor.

My buddy swears up and down that he can get the original splines swapped onto modified TL axles for $200, so that's a big expense averted.

After that it's a handful (albeit are fairly large handful) of small expenses to get everything up and going.

Alright guys: flame away!

Reasoning:

The J motor is cheaper (My friend has both motors, J32 & J35 sitting in his storage unit right now and he'll give them to me for a song)

Guys over in the Honda crowd are swapping the J32A2 pistons out of the TL Type-S into these Odyssey motors (making the CR something like 11.8:1) and making 290hp at the wheels.

It's intake manifold design is more conducive to MR placement, at least in the MK1 with less space than the MK2.... hopefully I can get it in without having to chop up a bulkhead

The 6 speed, apart from the fact that I can get these motors very cheap and that they make great power, this is the main reason for choosing this direction

The 6 Speed is a cable box so making it work in an MR vehicle shouldn't be too much trouble. The Evora isn't going to be coughing up the 6 speed for the GR anytime soon.... at least not for a decent price.

The new TL Type-S motors have very nice inlet manifolds and they are a direct swap

Piss people off

Do something different

Feels like motor is twisting?

Ok guys i need some help. I'm not really sure if it's normal or not. But my mr2 feels like the motor twisting or something like that. For example, when i pick my brother up from school, i'll be in first gear behind someone and if i let off the gas it slows down rather fast and not very smooth. And when i barely give it gas to speed up, it then feels like there is some sort of play in the rear end. Kind of like a go-kart with shocks in the back, if you ever drove one. Just feels like the back end picks up. I have TEIN adjustable shocks, so i know it's not the shocks being soft, cause they are really stiff. So what would cause something like this? I'm trying to explain it the best i can. Thanks for any kind of help.
