As some may know already, my 1991 MR2 Turbo died a horrible death. But for thse who don't, here is the story. It was January 17, 1996 and rainy. Whoops! Sorry, not a detective show. I was on my way home from my parents house. It had drizzled for about an hour and had coated the streets real good with a nice thin sheet of water. We call it black ice here. The tires on the back were in need of replacement and I was waiting for bonuses to come in the following month. I was driving along doing about 40 mph across an intersection. As I crossed the intersection, the rear of the car started to come around. I had only owned the car for 4 months and never had a rear engine car before. So, I did the normal front engine, rear drive thing to do, get off the accelerator. Wrong! The car immediately spun around and I slid across traffic, went up the curb, up the guidewire, hit the pole, launched the car about 10 feet in the air, and landed in the office complex grass. I went to the hospital and luckly nothing was wrong. Since I hit the pole with the rear of the car, my airbag never deployed and the entire seat braced my back. I was very lucky there was no oncoming traffic and the pole was the only thing that I hit.
