The MR2 is a great little car .... Bought mine new in 1993 and have had no mechanical problems with it. Here in Arizona I get to drive all year round with out snow ...! Thanks Toyota for a GREAT air conditioning unit! She's my baby!
Yo! Are there any other Phoenix area MR2 owners around??

WOW!! Just converted my '91 NA MKII taillights to the '94 version. I sure do like the look! Thanks to Nick Cigich for the main instructions, Rob Griffith (especially for mentioning the size of the nuts for the center panel), and David Eaton (about putting the pieces in from left to right, or vice versa, it sure wouldn't have worked with the center panel going in last). I printed out the instructions from the web page and followed them exactly. I don't have anything to add to the instructions except to say if you follow them step-by- step you will have absolutely no trouble. Yes, I did have to dimple the body behind the back-up lights (ok, I didn't do it - made my friend do it! ), but it wasn't much. Took us about 1 1/2 hours and that's with two complete novices to any type of Toyota bodywork (not to mention my total fear of goofing up one of those costly Toyota parts!). If you can afford it - and like the look - go for it! Sure makes for an awesome look! Now, to co!
ntinue on with replacing old, worn out parts..........

I own a 92 Mr2 turbo with just over 100k on the odometer. It's in outstanding condition body and motor wise. I'm trying to increase the horsepower and can use all the advise you may to give. I've never heard of the MR2 until purchaseing my own last year. If there are any MR2 events likes cross country drives, or shows, I'd love to attend if you could inform me on dates and places. I live in San Diego California. Any tips are greatly appreciated
Thank You All!

Can anyone advise me how "sideskirts" in a body kit attach to a MR2T MarkII. These will be made of fiberglass. I assume they must be drilled and screwed to the OE sideskirt. Should they be pre-drilled and painted before permantly mounted. What about where the mounting holes are located; fill them in and spot paint them?? Surely someone has seen this done. Just wanted to say "hi" again. I currently own 2 MR2s, a 1986 with 43,000 miles, black on black leather with Kaminari aero kit and a white with blue leather 1991 turbo. Recent mods I have to the 1991- Greddy turbo timer, Profec B boost controller, HKS fuel cut defencer, Greddy exhaust, K&N filtercharger, Aeroware body kit, Konig Monsoon wheels (17")with Nitto 40s and I just bought a Greddy T20-D turbo but have yet to have it installed. It is supposed to make as much as 320 hp at 16lb of boost. If anyone is interested in talking about these cars drop me a line.

Hi! I own a 1991 NA MKII which I bought used in Jun '97. I did not get an owner's manual with it, so I have a question I need help with. Is this year car supposed to beep, chime, buzz, whatever, when you open the door with the lights on (even if just the running lights) and the keys out of the ignition? Mine doesn't, and if it is supposed to, I want to get it fixed (will save me some wear and tear on the battery, eh?). Thanks for any help I get. Enjoy the Toy!

I have a 92 NA, red/black with all the trimmings. I have owned n 86 ( blue ) NA as well as a '74 914/2.0 . The mid-engine format is addictive! The MK II MR2 is by far my favorite though. I love this site and I am glad to see that there are others that still carry the torch for the prematurely discontinued family member ( da 2 ). You can e-mail me at bgaden@msn.com to converse about the 2 cause I never get tired of that. Props to the people that run this site!! BG

I just wanted to tell anyone wanting new brakes for their 2, I would highly recommend Stillens stage 2 cross drilled rotors, braided lines and pads. I just got them on my car and it stops on a dime. I also recommend the Eibach springs and Tokico adjustable struts combo. These are all for a MK11 although I'm sure they are just as good for the MK1. Check out my ride on http://www.cinti.net/~ctoennis

Other Mods thus far: TRD tower strut bars, Tokico struts, H&R springs, Work Wheels (17X7.5 front, 17X8.5 rear) & Nitto tires. The sound system will get major work after all the body mods are completed. It's a cruiser!

I am 18 years old from Louisville KY and I just bought a 1991 n/a MR2 (black) and I absolutely love it. I had a 1993 VW Jetta(3) that I liked very much but lost in an accident in June. I then bought a 1991 BMW 325i (in June) which I love and still own. I have always wanted an MR2 and I must admit, it has become my favorite car - to look at and to drive.

As a recently converted MR2 owner. Your website was so helpful and informative in aiding me to become an MR2 enthusiast. The MR2 makes my 40 miles one-way into one of the best parts of my day. Your links to parts distributers, manuals, maintenance/performance suggestions make the www a great place for making fun better. It's late & my rightfoot is itching for gas pedal. Just keep me informed where I can get a new one!!!! (next year??0

Can anyone tell me if they have used a pillar pod made for another type car on a MarkII MR2. I have been unable to find an Autometer #20681 single gauge pod which is supposed to be for the Mark II MR2. I've been told you can mold the pod to the pillar using heat from a hairdryer. Also, what is the best method to attach the pod to the pillar. I want it to look as close to a factory installation as possible! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob '93MR2T

I have a question for the electronic/hi-fi owners. How can I make the digital readout on my radio (3 in 1) stay on "bright" (full output) when the lights are on. The reason I want to do this is because I have my fog lights wired so I can use them independently of the headlights and like to run the fog lights during the day "for looks". I would think the Canadian version would have the setup I'm searching for because they must use daytime running lights. I've searched the electrical BGB, both US and Canada versions, and can't find the circuit or diode, etc. to make this modification. It would sure be nice to see the digital readout during a sunny day. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks '93 MR2T

There is just nothing to compare to the experience of driving the MR2. Anything that is not mid-engine, rear wheel drive is just outclassed in hard driving, and anything that is just doesn't give the level of feedback and reward to the good driver. I just bought my second MK1(I prefer that bodystyle) and am awaiting delivery of some parts to take the handling to even higher ground. Any e-mail is welcome, and I'll let you all know if I acheived true Indycar status with my new components!

I'VE HAD MY MARK ONE MISTER TWO FOR A YEAR NOW, ITS BRIGHT RED, IMACULATE INSIDE AND OUT. IT'S MY IDEAL CAR, SMALL, QUICK (6.9), AGILE, SELFISH AND CHEAP TO RUN. IT DOES HOWEVER SPEND MORE TIME SIDEWAYS THAN STRAIGHT.
I CHOSE THE MARK ONE OVER THE TWO AND THREE FOR ONE REASON REALY - HANDLING. I UNDERSTOOD THAT THE MARK TWO ALTHOUGH BIGGER IN THE ENGINE DEPARTMENT WAS LACKING IN HANDLING AND THAT THE MARK THREE ALTHOUGH MUCH IMPROVED OVER THE TWO STILL DIDN'T QUITE HAVE WHAT IT TAKES THE LOOSE THAT ANOYING RED PORSCHE:-)

Can anyone tell me the best way to attach an aftermarket (Aeroware) side scoop on a '93 MR2T. The OEM units have a screw post on one side and a slide clip of sorts on the other side to firmly attach the lower part of the scoop to the body. Are good body shops using fiberglass to afix the OEM attachment parts to the aftermarket units or are they mounting them in some other way? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks...

If Fiat,Porsche And GM/Pontiac (and others) had developed their respective designs to the ultimate end , they would have "INVENTED" the MR-2. From an ex Porsche 356A driver and serious weekend Hillclimb and Green Valley Racer (1966 to 1975). Currently have parked (3rd garage bay) a cherry 1995 T-Bar REDDDD turbo that was fix'en to turn 60 before I did. Plan to use on great weekends only and preserve the ambiance for a long time.

I bought a '91 automatic with 101,000 in June. Am I nuts? Spent $3000. to clean it up, re-tire, battery, plumbing and oil and tuneup. My total investment is the same as the Kelly Bluebook Retail. Dark blue is the perfect color for 1998. Still blows smoke for 5 seconds at morning startup. Valve job is $2500. at Toyota. They want $700. to adjust the valves. Who's crazy? Not me; I'll run it the way it is and add some STP. This is a fine Web Site. Thanks for taking the time and expense to share all this info with a Senior citizen who used to drive Porsches in the early sixties.

I enjoy brousing this page. I presently own an 86 fully restored and an 88sc.
The 86 handles better but does have t-tops so I am presently offering for sell. THe IMOC is a great thing to be involved in.
