Thu Oct 1 02:31:13 1998 Zach Saltzberg (d169.pm5.sonic.net) Own a 1991 MR2 Turbo. Luvin' It. I'm interested in some body modifications. I think I'm going to get the whole HKS package on the car. Anyone know of anyone still making aerodynamics kits for the MKII? The one I liked most went out of business. Well any input is appreciated. Thanks.
Thu Oct 1 05:31:58 1998 Dave B (ppp822.gulf.or.jp) Hi, I've got a 95 toyota supra RZ turbo (japanese model) and I like it a lot. But it's big and a bit of a handful around town (hard to park etc, and the huge veilside rear wing makes reversing impossible). I'm thinking about a turbo MR2 as a possible third car. My question to all you MR2 owners out there is would I like it or would it be redundant because of my supra? Any advice welcome...
Thu Oct 1 08:54:18 1998 Don Kwiatkowski (spider-tk051.proxy.aol.com) Since I'am a new owner of a 91 MR2 non turbo and do not have a repair manual yet. I have a question: Is the tranny/diff filler plug located on the front of the case ( toward the front of the car). The plug does not appear to be 24mm, like the drain plug. Your FAQ's cover a turbo 93 which has a different tranny/diff. Help
Thu Oct 1 11:46:40 1998 Garth (24.64.79.232.cgws1.ab.wave.home.com) I have an '86 non-turbo MR 2, and I love it. I'm 6'5, but I fit perfectly(unusual for me, even in big cars), the car rockets along with a seemingly endless amount of power, and I just got it painted bright fly yellow! What can I say? I love this one so much that I just might have to get one of the MK IIs so I can have the best of both generations. Keep up the great work with the web page!
Thu Oct 1 15:35:30 1998 Mauricio De la O (frontier.acer.com) I have owned an MR2 for almost two years. It's an 86 one and I consider that car like a dream come true. To me, this is the best car and it is so inspiring to drive it, that in fact I have a selection of music only for this car. It is the perfect chemistry...and I am planning to buy a second one!!!! Thank toyota for design it...and thank to this website for be there
Fri Oct 2 01:44:26 1998 nick dill (user-38h1sgs.dialup.mindspring.com) I have an eighty-six MR2 and always looking for parts. If anyone has any information please let me know.
Fri Oct 2 18:34:28 1998 alex cho (bus236.cba.hawaii.edu) Ive owned a MR2 for the pass 6 years, I have a 1992 MR2 with little modifications, such as a hks super flow intake system and a sheepdog exhaust, a full front bumber, side to side japan style body kit and 17x8.5 F and 17x9.5 in the rear, wrapped around in 215/40/17 in the front and 235/40/17 in the rear. I love my car but at times I feel the need for more power, I've always wanted a turbo but I somewhat satisfied with my 155horsepowered dyno tested mr2. I started out with a all-trac turbo celica, but I was dissapointed with the handling of the car it didn't have the mid-engine feel as my mr2 does.If i compare the celica to the mr2 i would perfer the mr2 because of its true sport car feel.
Sat Oct 3 03:27:33 1998 Gerry Murphy (p217.naas1.tinet.ie) MR2 G-LIMITED>>>>>Really fast Car
Sat Oct 3 16:04:08 1998 Jason Soo (n154h063.thezone.net) Hello, I've got a '93 turbo and is interested in modifying to up the performance. So far I've got a HKS turbo exhaust, HKS FCD, Greddy BOV, TVVC, and a K&N FIPK. If anyone has any suggestions of what I should do next to increase performance, but at the same time not killing gas mileage too much, please email me.
Sat Oct 3 20:32:44 1998 Mike Roebuck (usm-1220-96.wans.net) I have owned many different types of sports cars and though not the fastest nor the most powerful,it is by far the most fun I have had driving down the road. Too bad more people did`nt get to drive one. There loss, I`ve got mine and, GOD willing,I`ll have another after I wear this one out. A full blown turbo would be nice. MikeyD3D sharbuck@gateway.com
Sat Oct 3 23:40:18 1998 Tim Disney (206-118-190.ipt.aol.com) I recently purchased a 1991 MR2. Love the car!
Sun Oct 4 02:50:47 1998 Kevin Kinisky (pm9s2.intergate.bc.ca) Just thought I would let you know that this site has been very helpful as I have been looking to purchase an MR2 by the end of the year. I have now narrowed it down to either a 91 or 93 MR2 NA. The only problem is that there are not many listings (in terms of sales) for MR2's here in Western Canada. Any suggestions? Cheers! Kevin
Sun Oct 4 15:19:49 1998 Joy (host-209-214-200-66.gsp.bellsouth.net) Like the site, love the car... joy
Sun Oct 4 22:43:00 1998 mike barna (columbus.rr.com) I own a 87 Spydersports Silverstone (a lotus seven replica with IRS and various other improvements.) I am seeking a cost effective 200+/- HP Toyota engine to install to replace the 2TG that is in it now. I was considering a 4AGEZ or perhaps a 20 valve 4AGE. Any suggestions? The car has a T 50 transmission.
Mon Oct 5 04:33:51 1998 David Eaton (iq-ind-as007-237.iquest.net) Just a few comments concerning the 91'+ to 94' taillight conversion...Nick Cigich is basically dead on right with the procedure. I followed his procedures to a "T", and only saw a couple of additional things I thought to be worthy on noting. As Nick says, the old wiring harnesses DO work with the new taillight shells. Just mess with it and the bulb-sockets do fit snug. He suggests that you put the taillights back in and then put the new center panel in afterwards. I found this to be impossible. You need to put one light assembly in, then the center panel, then the other light assembly. Otherwise, the two little plastic extensions on top of the center panel will not go in. I ordered a Super Red center panel but found that the paint color was different (more orange-red) than my 91 red color. I am having this panel painted to match, but, if you want to take the easy route, you might consider ordering black. Beck Toyota in Indianapolis could not find the "MR2" logo sticker that goes between the backup lights. I am sure that they are not doing something right, but, if you encounter the same problem, I know a neat and easy way to make the logo sticker. Just e-mail me if interested. All in all, it was much easier than I thought it would be. And the end result is amazing. If you are debating on doing it, definitely do it. Just follow Nick Cigich's directions and Rob Griffith's comments and you can't go wrong! It might be helpful to have a buddy with you just to give you a hand from time to time. Good Luck!!!
Mon Oct 5 10:39:24 1998 Hendra Thio (remote89.server1.local.premium.dialup.unt.edu) I have MR2 model 86..I enjoy driving it... and I would like to know about it..
Mon Oct 5 12:05:21 1998 Zernan Blas (proxy.sdsu.edu) I finally did the measurements and purchased the shims for doing my valve adjustments on my 91' MR2 turbo. I am waiting for 4 more shims to come in. I can't wait to install them, and get a power and response increase in my car. The valve clearances were off quite a bit. Anybody have any questions or want to talk about valve adjustmentments, email me... zee
Mon Oct 5 16:18:21 1998 Bob Brickeen (pn6-ppp-08.primary.net) I've got an '88 MR2 stick (of course). It's got 150,000 miles on it now and the only problems I've had is the air conditioner going out and having to replace the clutch. A great car!
Mon Oct 5 23:07:26 1998 Anthony (248.san-jose-05.ca.dial-access.att.net) If any one has info on the way my '91 turbo gets hot and why, please E. mail me. Thank you.

Wed Oct 7 11:08:41 1998 Joe Vaccaro (d19-2.phoenix.goodnet.com) Just Purchased a Red (real red) 92 Turbo. I have owned a lot of different cars (3000GT VR-4, Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, Porsche 911, T/A, ETC.) I like this car more than all of them, and it is still basically stock (Wheels ETC.) Can't wait to get my grubby little hands on the motor.

Wed Oct 7 23:20:41 1998 james (pm25s9.intergate.bc.ca) I've just read the article on how to change your coolant. It sure seems difficult, why not just buy the flush kit. Has anyone tried the flush kit? Does the coolant flow in or out of the engine from the water pump. Thanks. 91 MR2 dude
Thu Oct 8 11:57:54 1998 Dan Eagan (207.246.3.82) A friend of mine ran my MKII into a curb at about 40 miles per hour. I'm looking for both passenger side wheel rims for relatively cheap. The rims will be put on a '91 so I need the appropriate style and size. E-mail me at Eagan@Primenet.com
Thu Oct 8 14:48:56 1998 anne griffin (as1-21.iaw.on.ca) The days are getting shorter, the nights colder. That time of year looms before me. The saddest day of the year is approaching, the day that Mr.2 must be put away for the long, cold winter. He has given me another wonderful summer. Being cuddled by his leather seat with the T-tops off and the wind whipping my hair. Another summer of impecable service, always ready at the touch of my fingertips. Always faithful, dependable and responsive to my whims. I will steal out to the garage, during the long winter, for glimpses of my Mr.2, waiting for me. I will remember the summers past and dream of the summers to come. We have shared 9 glorious summers now, and the hope for many more is ever present in my heart. Aren't I lucky!
Thu Oct 8 17:32:15 1998 Raymond de Vries (proxy.igr.nl) Better than Porsche`s site !!!
Thu Oct 8 17:59:37 1998 Tom Anastasi (204.120.9.28) I've owned a 91 T-top turbo for two years now and the car is fantastic. I just recently decovered the MR2 club and must say it is a great resource. Every thing in the FAQ was correct. The only problem I've had was I blew a water by-pass line to the oil cooler. What a pain in the rear to fix with out completly ripping everything apart. My question is, why did toyota's engineers decide to put a 100mm rubber hose right next to the turbo exhaust? The only answer I can figure out is so you can easily move the line if you have to replace the oil cooler. Wouldn't a thick walled alumnuim line work just as easily?
Fri Oct 9 09:16:46 1998 Lisa Ewy (spider-tk022.proxy.aol.com)
Sat Oct 10 08:30:57 1998 Dominic Roberts (ls2.internode.on.net.au) Great site....everything I could ever need is here!! By the way, is there a difference between the MR2 GT turbo and the MR2 GTS??? Hope to hear from you

Sun Oct 11 00:53:15 1998 Brian W. Mitchem (ppp-208-18-66-185.wchtks.swbell.net) I've got a '92 N/A, red, with T-Tops. It's by far the most fun car I've ever owned, and I plan to improve on it by adding Nitrous Oxide, and an Eaton supercharger, finances willing. ;) If you or anyone you know has ever attempted such a feat, please advise! I've yet to find a person who has supercharged a MKII, so perhaps mine will be the only one.

I just recently turned 100k miles in My '91 NA and someone on the digest said I should sign up on the 100,000 mile club. There are several beautiful late model turbo's in each magazine, But the picture of a red turbo (in Turbo mag, I think, in the car show section) from the back (a two page picture) has got to be the most beautiful ever. If you own that car, please let me know where you got the rear wing.

Sat Oct 17 12:20:43 1998 Tim (spider-ta052.proxy.aol.com) The 91-95 MR2 is probably the finest mid-engine car ever made. Tue Oct 20 02:52:47 1998 Terry Heick (host-209-214-168-70.sdf.bellsouth.net) In "Turbo Magazine" they are starting a new project Mr-2 (I suppose influenced by the success of the Sport Compact Car crew. They mentiones that they found the 3SGTE "weezy" at the top end (past 5500 RPM). They suspected a dirty air flow meter (or somewhere around there), and their suspicions seemed confirmed after cleaning it and noticing a jump in power. I too feel that my 92 Turbo is a bit "weezy", and struggles past at anything past 5000 really, maybe 5500. 0-60 times check in (via a G tech computer) around 6.5 sec (with only a Trust exhaust). Has anyone else found this to be true? Am I imagining this because my other car has a 9000 RPM fuel cutoff, and makes it peak power there (98 Type-R)? I know Turbo engines aren't built to wind forever, but my car has an exhaust, drop-in filter, Redline fluids throughout, and a boost control (set at about 11-12 PSI because of my lack of a FCD and upgraded IC). It seems to be worse if I launch it hard and take it to redline, rather ju! st performing a roll-on full throttle pull. Reiterating, does anyone else have this problem? Have dirty air flow "meters" (or whatever you call the part just after the filter going towards the intake manifold)? Have any suggestions? Sorry I wrote so much, just wanted to be thorough (i.e redundant). P.S. Would a stock Supra Intercooler fit an MKII? I know the space in there is tight, but how much bigger could the Supra IC be than the unit Greddy makes which (apprently) fits MKII'S?
Tue Oct 20 18:44:03 1998 Alan Au (spider-wl022.proxy.aol.com) Updated e-mail address as the above. I am currently listed in the Who's Who in Illinois. I have a MkII Turbocharged, Red. Thank you.

The car has developed a bad rattle on the drivers side door. How do you remove the panel? Any mods and performance tip would be great, thinking of stereo, wheels, new paint, and new exhaust system. Thanks.

To say that i am surprised at the cars performance and abilities is an understatement, i am extremely impressed, especially with the cars speed, and bought it on the spot. i have been surfing this site the past hours and find it an excellent source of information. Well done and thankyou. Mark

Tue Oct 27 12:42:02 1998 Bob Crews (ns1.graybar.com) I will be replacing the entire stock exhaust system back to the primary CAT soon. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to remove the pipe (that has the 2nd CAT) from the car in one piece without lowering the crossmember brace. The BGB details how to remove this pipe (even shows blow-ups), however I've been told it can't be done without dropping the crossmember brace. Most people end up cutting this pipe into two pieces to remove it but I don't want to do that because I understand the replacement cost for this pipe is around $700.00+. I know you need to have the car on a lift to obtain the necessary ground clearance. Anyone been able to remove this? Thanks, Bob Crews

Wed Oct 28 16:57:42 1998 Bob Crews (ns1.graybar.com) Can anyone advise me of the proper wheel offset for a '93 MR2Turbo using 16" wheels. I would like to run 235/45x16 or 245/45x16 on the rear but concerned about fender rub on the rear. I have heard or read that stock 15" offset is 45mm; would it be the same for 16" wheels? Thanks, Bob Crews
Wed Oct 28 19:36:11 1998 Scott Buckley (spider-tr073.proxy.aol.com) I just purchased a 93 MR-2 . I just turned 40, recovering from Cancer and decided to treat myself to the toy I deserved. Two weeks now and have enjoyed every minute. It is like driving a go cart with a wind shield. Looking for ways to improve performance ...not as fast as I would like it. The Turbo was fun but in Florida they are as rare to find as a snow flake.

Fri Oct 30 15:07:53 1998 Bob Crews (ns1.graybar.com) Question! Has anyone ever modified the stock "airbox" on a MR2 Turbo to increase the diameter of the air intake tube to some size larger than stock. I would like to keep the stock airbox/filter assembly but increase the available air intake. Maybe a flexible corregated PVC pipe used for fiber optic cable/data/power in 2 1/2" ID would be much better than the stock piping which is probably only 1 1/4" to 1 1/2". An appropriate sized male terminal adapter and locknut could be used to connect the new larger size pipe to the stock airbox. Anyway, whatcha think? Thanks, Bob Crews "93MR2T

Sat Oct 31 18:00:48 1998 Jason (lon-on3-15.netcom.ca) Just over a year ago I purchaced a mint condition MR2- '89/supercharged Mk1 (white with burgandy interior, T-roof, and lots of extras). I would like to say I have never been happier. This car is so much fun in the city...and quick. I'm always receiving complements on it's looks and performance. After a year I still get a charge when that little green light comes on and you get pulled into your seat. My wife and I find it difficult not to drive aggressively. I would love to hear comments from other Mk1 owners that share this enthusiasm.
