hi, I have an 87 mr2 with low miles, all leather all electric full spoiler package, excellent shape. I've had it since it was new. I'm trying to decide if I want to sell it or not. If so I have no idea what to ask for it. What does a car like this sell for? I treasure this car and I'm sure it's worth a lot more to me than anyone would want to pay for it? What's a fair price?

Hi.I'm an MR2 turbo(1991) owner living in Luxembourg and looking for anyone
who could give me information about upgrading my brake system.
Cross-drilled rotors, different pads and so on.
The problem is that i need TUV papers (technical paper required in Germany
and Luxembourg that states the mod. you did is safe on your car) for that.
Otherwise i cannot pass my next annual obligatory technical check-up.
Please submit any info available on that subject.
thanks.

I have a 1987 MR2 I purchased from the original owner before it was a year old and had 15,000 miles. Today it has 50,000 miles and looks better than new. everything is original except the rear tires. Seems they wear out first. I have had sports cars since the fifties only then they were British and German. I love to drive the 2 and she handles like my old 914 Porsche. They had the engine in the right place also. I look forward to visiting the site often.

An excellent collection to my favorite websites!!! Kuddos to you guys.
MR-2s are the bomb. Amen to that. I would just like to comment on
Terry that the Celica Turbo All-Trac aka GT-4 is alive and well in some
countries even in the U.S., All-Tracs exist rarely though. To all you
MR-2 owners, keep the faith. Toyota will do something.

I just bought an 87 MR2 (black) from the original owner. It has 107k miles on it and runs great. What a step up from my 91 Hyundai Scoupe!!! The original owner loved it so much, and recently bought a new one. I think I'm in love too. Now if I could just find a place to race it. . .

I have a 1985 MR2 that has just passed 200,000 miles and it is still running, although my reason for searching sites is that a myriad of stuff is starting to require attention. I have enjoyed the machine and it still is my daily transportation.

Would like to talk to somebody who has a vehicle similar to mine (88 SC)
After hitting a deer, the car is being repainted and bodywork repairs etc.
Mods include: Larger SC pulley, different cams, new rotors X4 , shift linkage kit
steel lines (brake). I am interested in finding a source for the bronze tinted T tops found on the MK 1

I have recently purchased a 1991 MR2 and have totally fallen in love. I am interested in making engine upgrades and am not very educated in this field. My MR2 is a standard 4 cylinder automatic, (no turbo), but does have fairly high highway miles. It's engine runs and performs very well in spite of the high miles. Any helpful info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Catherine Haley (1Cust138.tnt2.grapevine.tx.da.uu.net)
Have an '89 SC Burgandy. LOOKING FOR ORIGINAL ACCESSORIES. I did install a set of Fitipaldi rims with Dunlop Z tires. Little pricey, but worth the handling. MR2s are coming back, according to Car & Driver Dec. 1997, as a MRS. They currently are only selling in Japan for $17,000. The MRS looks similiar to the Porsche Boxster. It was designed from the original MR2 concept.

I am the original owner of an 85. It is silver with a decal package across the hood and along the sides with the MR2 logo. 63,000 miles, garage kept, not driven in winter. Everything is original including floor mats. Interior is in excellent condition. No accidents, no dings. I plan to keep it for a long time. I don't think there are too many 85's around. If you have one, drop me a line. It still turns heads!

i've been in love with the mr2 since i first saw it in the toyota showroom in hong kong in 1986, and have been dreaming of having one to. unfortunately luck is not on my side. and i'm just glad that i was not wrong with my taste in cars, seeing the web page for just one particular car, is overwhelming enough, and to think it's an exotic japanese car! i'll definitely try and have my own mr2, soon...i hope

I have recently been told by three different car dealers that late model MR2

I'm considering selling my Toy, as much as I love it I'm afraid I've fallen harder for the mark II. If you know of anyone in the north east, or of some way I could post it for sale please e-mail me.

Hello folks! I'm a quite new owner of '98 MkII G-Limited T-Bar 5F yellow. This car is said to be the '97 Tokyo Motor Show display model. In these days, short milage (or kilometers) Mk II is very rare.
When I called Toyota, they told me that I have to wait about 1.5 months. So I went to the used car booth and fortunately found this one. This wasn't registered yet so is a "new" car, while Toyota has changed engine to VTEC (I don't know what Toyota calls) and rear spoiler to high mount one. Nice to meet you all.

I had an '86 MR2 bought for me as a gift from my mother as a daily driver to college. When I went away to further my education abroad, I gave it to my dad. When I graduate in the year 2000, I plan... I mean, I will buy myself a '95 MR2 turbo. I have always been facinated by this car's unique personality and dispite all the other cars in this world, I would like to own this great sportscar.

To the guy wanting a place to sell his 89 SC, he should try the MR2SC homepage @WWW.MR2SC.COM. To the guy with the auto non-turbo MR2 wanting to slightly modify it, check TRD, as they might have some moderate cams available for your engine, though I don't believe so. Depending on how much of an increase in performance you want, you could just add a drop-in K&N air filter and try an exhaust, or try a modest dose of NOS. Most people shy away from its use, but used responsibly, you can't beat its bang-for-the-buck potential (especially when you own a model that the aftermarket doesn't support) Otherwise, just tweak the suspension a bit, maybe add a bit larger tires, and enjoy a long happy life with your unmodofied, virgin MR2. I've have a perfect (truly PERFECT) 85, as well as a modified 92 Turbo. Both are excellent cars, but they do different things, have unique personalities. Faster isn't always better... Just keep it waxed, use Redline synthetic oil, and watch for those damned!

I have been driving a 4-runner for the last 10 days while on a trip to Utah. When I got in my '93 MR2 yesterday for the first time in nearly 2 weeks, I couldn't stop smiling! My '93 N/A is no rocket ship, but it responded to every fraction of a millimeter of throttle or steering wheel movement, and that foam cone air filter sounded more Ferrari-like than ever. I had almost forgot how wonderful the little MR was (my girlfriend, on the other hand, was grabbing for the "ohmygod handle", and being generally un-impressed). Those SUV owners can have thier "commanding" view of the road, we few MR2'ers can just keep smiling! Drive safe guys!

Great site! Exelent information on convincing me to buy an MR2.After reading the information I decided to buy a 1991 MR2. I`m not sure if my insurance can handle turbo [ being an 18 year old driver w/ one reckless driving ticket] although I want it bad.I`ve got about 5 different ideas for paint job wheel combanations. MR2`s w/ a good set of wheels really make the car.

WARNING - I got e-mail from some guy with parts from junked 85-88 MR2's for sale. I wanted an 88 wheel, he sent a 86? wheel COD. I didn't open it right away. Later found it wasn't right. He's not answering my request for money back. If you got an e-mail from a 314 area code, BE CAREFUL you don't get taken. Hope I don't offend this great site, just feel I should warn everyone.

Can't wait to buy a new one in a few years. Any advise, etc I should know about this '91 w/ 75k on it? Would enjoy hearing any comments; thanks!!

Just bought a '91 turbo w/ oversize wheels, filtercharger, and full exhaust.
It has 109,000 miles and is still as fast as a stock 300z or Z28s' and
mustangs'. Hope it will be around for a while. Anyone have any comments about
longevity of factory turbo? Please let me know.

HI EVERYBODY!
It has been quite some time since I have been in here, and while perusing this months entries, I am intrigued by how many people have "revitalized" their older MR2s with new powerplants! I have had my new engine for over a year now (close to 2 actually) and she still runs great!!
IT makes quite a difference. Anyone got any "swap" stories to share? I enjoy talking with others who have had the same experience(s) as myself. If you need any technical advice as well, please feel free to drop me a line, as I have replaced and/or repaired just about everything you can replace on this car.
I have had the car for over 3 yrs, and although the time may come soon to retire it, and get something else, I will not part with the "little car that could"

Dan (fellow MR2 affecianado)

This is for anyone living in southwestern Ontario interested in import drag racing. There are two dragways that are hosting Import only days, Cayuga dragway and London motorsports park. Cayuga (just south of Hamilton) has 9 dates; May 2, May 30, june 20, July 4, July 18, aug 15, aug 29, sept 19, and Oct 11. (call the track for times or possible date changes; 905-779-3465) London Motorsports park has 4 dates; June 13, july 11, aug 8, and sept 12. Starting at 4:00 pm. Their phone # is 519-775-2263. Come to race or just to watch. By the way my car is a 89 supercharged that is extensively modified and I just sold my 87 that had a Japanese 4age transplant and upgraded brakes and exhaust from a supercharged. If anyone has any Questions about the swap (I did it all myself)or my other car drop me a line. See ya

I currently have 4 MR2's; an 85, 86, 88 and 91. I have been driving them since 1985. I entered an 85 in the first ever Showroom Stock Endurance race in Sebring in 1985 with Jim Roberts from Birmingham, Alabama and won. It was an ultimate high. What I want to do is find kits for the MR2's

Hello,
Thanks for all of the useful information on the page.
I do have a question however, Why does the mailing list ban postings or subscriptions from hotmail accounts? This makes it very difficult as the only account that I have at this point is time is a hotmail account. This will change once I have a permanent US address, but that will not happen for a few more weeks.

I have recently imported my 1995 red MR2 GTS Turbo from Japan to Sydney. The car has Blitz exhaust and Turbo Timer and 16 inch EWING mags as well as being lowered an inch - very nice. The car is set very conservatively so I intend to raise the boost to 1.1 bar (currently 0.7) and eliminate the factory fuel cut. Does anyone know any cheap tricks on how to eliminate the factory speed limit of 180km/h?.

I have an 85 MR2 I bought to use in autocross, then spent the next four years in college and getting my new computer programmer career secure. The car never ran once all these years to keep me from wasting too much time on it. I got a new fuel pump last weeke and it goes like a flash. Need suspension and tires as well as cosmetic help. This is the second series 1 MR2's I have owned. I intend to buy more as the opprtunity presents itself. they are neat cars, superior to many models costing MULTIPLES of the MR2's original price.

I own a 91 T-Top N/A with tokico shocks, Eiback lower springs, and a lot of HKS goody stuff and it's seem like I had to spend more money on new tire than any thing else; rear tire(Low Profile series Tire) only last for about under 10K miles.
