Does the knock sensor operate exactly like on http://alabanza.com/tsnet/ledmod/howto.htm? According to the 2nd volume of the BGB, the knock sensor is basically a variable resistor. By monitoring the wire between the sensor and the ECU, we can determine if the engine is experiencing knocking. Question is, when it knocks, is this wire at a certain voltage (6 or 12V?) like on the page mentioned above, or is it grounded? On that page, it doesn't look like there was a step down of voltage for the LED from 12V to 5 or so. I thought of this over a year ago. What a business opportunity! Unfortunately others had too and were _already_ in business. Check 'em out at www.iescrow.com. They charge 5% and even take credit cards. As far as a "honest/crook list" goes, here's my idea: Add a section to the MR2 classifieds, similar to the "Testimonials" section, where you can fill out a form with just three fields and a check box. One for date, one for YOUR email address, and one for your comment/flame/whatever. Check box to specify endorsement or caveat emptor posting Example entry: 6 Jan 1998 james.king@wyatt.com I sent a $50 check to Joe Blow (joe_blow@aol.com) for his used Super Turbo Whatchamacallit. He cashed my check and I haven't seen anything and he wont respond to my emails. If your email could be inserted automatically, that would be better so it would be harder to fake it. If you're thinking of doing business with someone, look in the list first. If several different people enter complaints about the same person, then there you are. No information? Then you're the guinea pig. How about it John S.? Could you do this by just tweaking the existing HTML for the Testimonials page & form a little? Now admittedly, my tires weren't new, but they were in pretty good shape. I have no idea what cause either of them. The tires were rated for relatively high speeds (I was only going about 70 both times). I've driven at well over 100 mph several times (I do live in Nevada you know), but never for a long period of time, and NEVER with someone in the car that didn't have a say in how fast I was going, or didn't have the ability to know what kind of potential danger they were in. I'm curious what >exactly is the suspension difference between the 92 and >the 93. I know it was altered to make the car less >tail-happy, but I don't know exactly what was changed >to do this. Biggest change was the rear suspension lower arms were lengthened by 98mm (3.86") which changed the rear steering characteristics on bounds and rebounds. Previously, the rear toed in slighly under bound and toed out slightly under rebound. For '93+, it toes in quite a bit for both bound and rebound. Also, rear camber was increased by 15'. Front and rear geometries were also changed to increase anti-squat and anti-lift under acceleration and braking. Strut rod bushings, suspension arms bushings, and stabilizer bushings were also stiffened to reduce compliance steer. The '93+ stabilizer bushings are also teflon lined. In the front, caster trail was increased to improve steering response and feel. The new front strut bar bushing design (cylindrical pivot vs. old cushions) improved rigidity, but made caster not adjustable on the '93+ cars. We ate till our hearts content and talked MR2's the whole way through. We even did impressions of others on the digest :-) Then we went to David's house to pick up half of a B-pipe and proceeded to a local muffler shop so that David and Jeff Bihn could work on Jeff's exhaust system development. Afterwards, we went back to Dave's house so that he could unveil his '89SC to us and we drove back to Bennigan's for pictures and more car talk. We finally departed around 1800 that night. I for one had a great time and believe everyone else did as well. Much thanks to David Hawkins for taking his time and energy in setting up the meet. I hope to see more folk there next time.
