Gathering for Dec. 28, which had to be cancelled. The plan is now to hold it next Sunday, January 4th, 1998, with the following Sunday (Jan 11th) as the rain/snow date. Here is the itinerary... 1) Caravan down to A.C. with other MR2's going your way. Meet them halfway or whatever to make your drive to A.C. more enjoyable. Use the Digest to find out who's going your way. Roxanne and I will be meeting Chris Conrad at 8:30 AM at the car wash (on the south side of Rt. 30), two traffic lights EAST of the intersection of Rts. 73 and 30 (two lights past the cinema complex. 2) 10:30 - 11:30 AM Meet just past The Flagship Hotel/Condo, which is in the Inlet area of Atlantic City. Directions - Once inside of A.C., take Atlantic Ave. (a major north/south street just 2 blocks from the Boardwalk) all the way up to the northern extreme (this means that the Atlantic Ocean is on your right driving up Atlantic Ave., for all you "directionally-challenged drivers". Follow Atlantic Ave. to the end where it bears around to the left. Now the inlet is alongside your right. You can see The Flagship Hotel/Condo about 5 blocks away from it as you are driving up Atlantic Avenue. There is an area to pull over just after the hotel and before the iron framework of a building that you will see on the right (this was the old "Hackney's Restaurant"). The end of the Boardwalk is on your right. This area is no longer a bad area. Just look for the other MR2's. 11:30 AM Drive down Pacific Avenue past all the casinos and all of the modern Atlantic City "action", head down through the southern part of A.C. and do a sight-seeing drive through Margate and Ventnor. Drive through an interesting section of primo real estate in Longport and wind up at "The Point", the southenmost tip of the island. There is another parking area there. Get out of the cars and enjoy the scenery. 1:00 PM Head back up to Atlantic City for lunch @ the best submarine/hoagie/zeppelin joint in the world called "White House Subs", which I heartily recommend. It is a world-famous place. There is a free parking lot across the street, and interestingly enough, the lot is owned by Bob Guccione (of Penthouse fame). 2:30 PM AT this point, we can park at a casino hotel and take a walk on the Boardwalk (maybe to the new Steel Pier), or if you want a quieter casino, go to Harrah's in the Marina district. Some of us aren't gamblers, so going to a Boardwalk casino might be best. Parking at all the A.C. casinos is $2.00 for the entire day, and that is actually a city fee, so you are covered at all the casinos if you keep your receipt. Please get in touch and let me know if you are coming. See you there next Sunday, January 4th (with Sunday, January 11th as the rain/snow date!) - ----- Joe Pearlstein '91 Crimson Red MKII, Past owner of '86 Super Red MKI Philadelphia, PA mailto:nu3y@critpath.org ICQ# 3480202 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Dec 1997 09:36:00 -0500 From: Jamie Dennis Subject: MR2 Turbo - EGT question, and a couple others. Joe Dyer (SF) mention something about the dealer being required to honor all warranty commitments after 1997 regardless of year issued. Like i mentioned before, i will speak again with the service manager (Denny Politee) at KMT tomorrow to find out more stuff. he seemed very interested in the procedures to follow now that the "language" has changed in the 98 "Toyota Warranty Pocket Handbook". we should all go to our respective dealers and find out our rights due. if i appear a touch over-reactive thats due to the fact if factory manages to get out of its warranty duties its could cost us (you) ~1200. if anyone finds out any info please respond via general cc (this list) so all may stay informed and lighten. in addition, my burden of responding to all will be less time consuming. again, here is the url that Jefferson V (love that name) so kindly created for this purpose (nice photo of a 2 i might add, but no driver?) ckitout: http://home.earthlink.net/~svogeding/broken.htm later- terry ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Dec 1997 21:00:27 -0500 From: Jamie Dennis Subject: MR2 [Fwd: Turbo - EGT question, and a couple others.] This is a multi-part message in MIME format. - --------------56F7CB37D0567B550542EB20 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit - --------------56F7CB37D0567B550542EB20 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline Message-ID: <34A663CF.37C18EFA@ipass.net> Date: Sun, 28 Dec 1997 09:36:00 -0500 From: Jamie Dennis X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.04 [en] (Win95; U) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: mr2-interest@validgh.com Subject: Turbo - EGT question, and a couple others. You would think that the 93+ would be faster 0-6, but I am > starting to wonder??? ARe the 91/92 faster??? SOmething to do with the > ignition wires? timing? thoughts??? as i read it a few years ago in sprots car international and road and track the 91/92 was faster in the 0-60 (ever so slightly) because 91/92 has 14" wheels sporting 205/60 rear and 195/60 fronts. the 93+ have 15" with more rubber = more friction on the road at 225/50 rear and 205/50 front. when i "upgraded" my 92 to 15" (93+ spec) i did notice slower 0-60 times and greater times in elasticity areas. no emperical data just "yeah its a liittle slower", but then again in the enhanced handeling surpasses this loss in "fastness". hey was the list not operating, or did we implement the "circuit breaker" theory for the ole big T the last 24 hrs? what gives? terry ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Dec 1997 21:09:30 -0800 (PST) From: momosc@sasquatch.com Subject: MR2 Erratic posts Hi Seems only about 1/2 of my posts are getting through. My stock clutch started slipping at 10000 miles so I decided to switch to rps turbo clutch. Shortly after the install of the new clutch, it too began to slip in third. RPS sent me a new clutch and reviewed mine. I paid shipping only. To my dismay, this clutch did not hold either. I called RPS and told them this one was not holding up either. Rob apolagetically told me that his new manufacturer was making defective clutches and that the rivets on the clutch were hitting the pressure plate. He told me that the problem had been fixed and he was happy that he had not sold many 3rd generations clutches with the new manufacturer. Rob told me to send the second clutch back and he would send me one at no charge and when he received my clutch, he would send me a check for four hundred dollars which would cover the installs for the two previous defective clutches. I got the 400.00 in the mail last week and the new clutch is holding up fine. I think thats pretty good business and wanted everyone on the list to know about these dealings. I will let the list know if this one does slip prematurely. Chuck 95 PEP http://houston.rx7.net/drchuckbroussard/ - -- MZ - -- Send mail for the `rx7' list to `rx7@World.STD.Com'.
