The problem is that the leaf blower is too large to do this so i am installing the leaf blower pointing up and using a flexible pipe to direct the flow. will this be sufficient? 2) since i am installing the blower pointing up, the blower is touching the transmission or some housing (i think). will this housing generate enough heat to melt the blower housing? 3) i bought the best power inverter that frys offer. it is rated 300 watts continuous that can produce 115 volts AC. will this be sufficient to power the 12 amps leaf blower? thanks to all the people who responded to my first post. i found out that i am not the only "crazy" person in this list hehehe. i will be installing the "kit" tomorrow and do test runs to see if this mod is worthwhile. thanks again for your help aries aisporna (red 86 mk1 being fitted with LB charger) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Dec 1997 09:34:37 -0000 From: "Dave C" Subject: MR2 silicone gung Just one question guys - the silicone gunk that was the subject of discussion a few weeks/months ago - I'm not sure of the name - can anyone confirm if it was "Westley's Black Magic." Well the cams are in and dialed in to 100/98 and as far as I can see everything is ready to go. However I just cant seem to start it. It cranks over ok, but just wont fire up. I tried changing to various iginition timing settings for about 2 hours and the best I could get out of it was 5 secs of stuttering and a bad smell. I now have the battery on charge and am trying to figure out what the hell is wrong. The only thin Im not too sure about is the TDC marker on the TRD cam, the factory cam has a notch to denote the TDC just after the valve has opened. The TRD cam doesnt have this notch. So as far as I can tell I just used TDC where the intake lobe is pointing to the rear of the car, to set the distributor. This is correct isnt it? Any help on this is most appreciated, I just cant seem to get it started and its been a really long day having broken my rocker covers too (but dont worry I got another pair). My 88 MR2 SC was totally not takin care of at all. I bought it at 130,000 miles. Since then I have autox it. Drivin it hard and at 150,000 miles and counting it runs fine. I mean this car had the original fuel filter at 130,000miles. It had been on there so long the bolts had seized to the filter. It took me two hours to replace the filter. Geesh. I myself run Castrol 10w-40. That seems to run fine. I would use Mobil one but because it burns just a little oil I figure it is like throwing money away. The high idle is normal at startup. When I first bought mine I thought the same thing but it appears to just be normal. For spark plugs go with the NGKs. They are a quality replacement. Ah the dusty MR2 engine. That is normal to. I swear the engine is like a dust magnet. I clean mine and clean mine and one rain or something and bam it is dirty again. It must be with the design. Heck when it rans bad my alternator and supercharger belts throw dirt up against the engine lid. Normal. Finally if money is tight go with the grant or go to a junk yard and find you a used on. For a taken care of unit (good oil, filters, distributor caps and rotors, plugs, etc), you should see 200k-250k miles. Transaxle will last almost forever, as long as it's not abused. Watch out for rust around the wheel wells, the O2 sensor goes frequently enough, etc, etc, etc. Is there a buyers FAQ on mr2.com?
