I obtained the shocks and springs as a kit from HKS and they did NOT specify if the springs are linear or progresive. Anyhow I looked at them and noticed that there were more coils to the stock ones and also that the pitch was progresive. So I gather that the springs are progresive ... > > > I would be a little concerned about using progressives on the front > and linear springs on the rear. The fact that I have a beefed up sway bar gives me the chance to go to a less hard rear set up. By installing the stock shocks both front and rear I will obtain that secure-feel of handling at high speeds, retaining the beefed up sway bars will keep roll to a minimum and the springs...well... I will try both types, TOKICO combination and EIBACH whatever they are. The tube is the transaxle oil cooler. Seems rather small and ineffective to me but I guess it works well enough - if it is even needed. Have often thought it would be rather easy to improve on the thing by adding aftermarket, larger, finned unit. Might also cure the discrepancy between transaxle lubricant actual capacity and spec capacity. Spec says 4.1 qts; will actually hold approx. 3.5 qts when refilled w/ Redline 75W90NS. Can't stuff any more in there w/out filling thru breather at very top of transaxle. 4 factory qts came out but 4 Redline would *not* go back in. Why is that? I'd have to look at the sticker, but I believe it definitely is a 1995 (as does the dealer, the lender, the county recorder's office and the state dept of motor vehicles.) Yes, the spoiler is different, as is the panel containing the rear lights. The door bumper trim is different also, its color matches the car. Most everything else (cosmetically) is the same. >Hi Doug, > >Thanks for letting me know some 1995s truely exist. It says in the MR2 FAQ that it may benefit overall power because of the lower restriction. If anyone has done this, please respond. If it gives any noticeable increase in power, it is worth it as this muffler costs 300 dollars less than an HKS or Trust. I am a little concerned that the sc muffler may not be suitable to the NA 4AGE power curve, though. MR2 is listed as just over 10,000 units for 1994 (I'm not going to go back and find the exact number right now, but I believe it was in Toyota's data center). Also, I suspect that was calander year production, not model year, but I can't be sure. A news article I have here states that less than 250 MR2s were sold January thru July 1995 in the US. Also, a 1994 MR2 brochure I have here shows the newer tail-lights and one piece rear spoiler. I'm a little confused on the production numbers vs. the vehicle number. On another MR2 wedsite, many owners have listed their vehicle numbers but none are over 1000 for MKIIs. Does anyone understand those? My 1993 T is number 105 built in Feb. 1993 but it seemed to me that Kendrick Wong's 93 had a higher vehicle number, but it was really a 93 model built in 92. Sounds like maybe they are based on calander year, but has anyone seen numbers over 1000? I am putting it on a 91 NA....however it will fit a Turbo just the same. There are benifits to this system...it allows you to invert your oil filter so it won't drain, and place it right over the right vent for cooling. It is cast Aluminum and that helps for cooling. If anyone is interested..... the kit is about $35.00... and with $15.00 of hose and shipping costs.... you can do a nice job.
