It had new rear lights, new spoiler (sort of went all the way around), and changes to front as well I think.. can't remember exact changes. Maybe 'cause of bad US sales they are still selling 94 models, but certainly over here, they sell well, so there are lots of MkIIb's around. Stu ------------------------------ From: "Burns, James B." I'm not sure I believe this. BTW, the GABs are sold as a complete assembly, not an insert, and cost $278 each. OUCH! Brad Burns '94T ------------------------------ From: "Burns, James B." AO22's etc. >How did you rate the BFG R1 tires that you had on the other set of wheels? >Better than the AO22's? The R1s grip a lot better, but I wouldn't recommend them as a street tire. I only used them for autocrossing (which is why I have the second set of wheels and tires), but did some freeway driving on them to get to the autocrosses. They have extremely stiff sidewalls which makes the ride very harsh and noisy, and the car dances around on the freeway following truck ruts and other irregularities much worse than on the stock tires, making those freeway drives very tiring. They also have a tread wear rating of only 60 (compared to the AVS's 160 and my Michelin's 300), so they won't last long. They are made with very little and shallow tread, so I think they would be scary in the rain, too, especially after they wore down a bit. I know a couple of guys who use the R1s as their street tires (Camaro and Buick Grand National drivers), but I personally wouldn't recommend it, especially on the MR2. YMMV. I don't know how effective it is but yes, it is possible to remove it and connect an external radiator for more cooling. Just obtain the correct fittings from Earls. It can be ordered through a 1800 number any dealership will give you. The Hanes says "most of the repairs of the transaxle are too complicated for the home mechanic, thus out of the scope of this manual." They do have some nice illustrations, but they look liked they were photocopyed and reduced from the Toyota manual. They were normally $4.00 buth they were having a 50% off sale. I think they still have quite a few. Lots of manuals for other cars, too. Their phone number is 816-257-1342. It's definitely the synchros. But it hasn't bothered me at all lately. Now, I make a subconscious effort to shift into third without being lazy (i.e. instead of sliding it into third from 2nd, I push it straight in). Not a very good description I know. But I found that a slight change in the way I shifted didn't crunch the synchros, and it hasn't slowed me down at all. Just something to think about... (it's on the wrong side) There's a few things that I'd like to find out... 1/ How do I know if my Mk1 has a catalytic converter? If so, do I really need it, as I've heard that they're supposed to reduce BHP slightly... (Our emission controls over here aren't as strict as in the States) 2/ What is the bhp? (UK and USA specs seem to differ) 3/ Has anyone else had problems with the headlight gear rusting? (When you detach the headlight flaps to change bulbs, I found mine to be a bit rusty) 4/ Any suggestions for improving night driving visibility? I'm not to pleased with the present standard setup. Well, I think that will do for now...
