I've been extremely busy with work and home remodelling lately, so the club stuff has been put on the back burner. Hang in there and I promise to get an improved and more substantial newsletter out real soon. We should start planning for an event for Spring '96. Let me know if you have any suggestions or would like to help organize. I'm just about to put my black '89 NA away for the winter. Hello to all. Our '92 has some things cropping up that I wonder will be problematic for other owners when you get to this milage with this year model. CD player grinds when ejecting cd's. Strut boots cracked. Exhaust manifold leak fixed twice under warranty (extended). 3rd windshield replacement ( rock magnet?) Clutch replaced along with synchro's (again extended warranty). Driving light lenses almost opaque. Lumbar support inoperative. Brake pads replaced in rear. 5th set of rear tires due. Otherwise, my fingers are crossed since warranty is about to expire. My wife is so in love with this car, she won't let me trade it for a new Pontiac Firebird with ram air. Am I nuts or is she? :) - -- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Roderick Mielo, alias: nazgul@ix.netcom.com "What a Web We Weave." zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ------------------------------ From: uunet!ix.netcom.com!nazgul (Roderick Mielo ) Date: Sun, 5 Nov 1995 18:03:06 -0800 Subject: Boost reading Lurking on this newsgroup for awhile and wonder: Our boost guage only shows 9 oclock position under wfo throttle. Normal on a '92 Turbo? Anyone else try the technique of bending their gas pedal upwards to allow for more movement and perhaps more power ( if the linkage allows). Saw this as a post last week. Date: Mon, 06 Nov 95 11:14:00 EST Subject: Autox setup questions You asked about smaller front swaybars for the '93+ MR2. Someone told me that the Turbo has a larger front bar than the NA. Can anyone confirm this? If this is the case, then turbo owners could put the NA bar on their cars to soften the front a bit. However, I know a NA driver who claimed that disconnecting his front bar had no effect on the balance of the car, but resulted in more rear wheel spin out of corners (no LSD). BTW, does anyone make an adjustable front bar for the '93+ MR2? Another question: Stock class allows 1/4" wheel offset. Has anyone tried adding 1/4" wheel spacers to their MR2s? Did it make any difference? The style of the rear lights and the tag plate location he believes is different to that of the UK spec. Can any fellow owners throw any light onto this subject, maybe point me in the right direction to start talking conversions. I can (with a bit of effort :-)) supply a picture of the back as he believes it to look. Well Saturday we had the first snowfall here in Upstate New York and I was excited. On my way to work I had to drop off a video so while I was in their parking lot, I decided to practice my slides and skids since the lot was empty. Then proceed down the highway on my way to work. Everyone else was going about 30 to 40 so I gently eased around the first set of cars I encountered, since the plows weren't out yet, saw how easily my MKI was handling in the slush, and proceeded to increase my speed to about 55. Needless to say, many people gave me dirty looks as I went wizzing by them. To those of you cringing at the thought of driving your MR2s in the snow, I say, give it a try some time! It handles great and I can't even keep count of all the 4wds that I see in the ditches as I go crusin' by!
