I heard from a former MR2T owner that on California emissions equipped '91 Turbo's that the stock mixture adjustment could be improved with a half twist of one screw, gaining a couple horsepower and better throttle response. Any of you heard of such a thing? Unless I miss my guess, the good deals are about over. Some folks, outside this group, are beginning to realize that the MR2 was the last of a breed and there is not another on the horizon!!! I got shop manuals directly from Toyota 1-800-622-2033. (See MR2-Digest Vol 1 No 10 for details) They told me that they had a warehouse full of them! gth - ------------------------------------- George T. Hilliker Computer Sciences Corp. Looks too much like a del Sol, especially from the back. Date: Fri, 03 Nov 95 13:00:00 EST Subject: Tire Size for ASP MR2 I just test fit my rear wheel and tire combo on the front of my '94. This is a 16X7.5 wheel, 38mm offset, with a 225/45-16 tire. It fit, but was REALLY close. It cleared the front strut by maybe 5mm -- I couldn't get a finger between tire and strut. At full steering lock, the tire was almost brushing the rear of the fenderwell. This was with stock suspension. I didn't actually drive with this configuration, so if things flex during cornering there may be a problem. I don't think a 225/50-16 would make it, especially on a lowered car. Show max torque at 4000 rpm, max power at 5600. > I don't know what "299 PS" means, I have no idea what units > that is... I often see this unit used in Japanese videos/magazines. I talked to a couple of the Japanese physicists in our particle physics collaboration and even they couldn't tell me what 'PS' were. It doesn't correspond to any metric measurement nor is it Japanese. I do know that there are several different standards for 'horsepower', and that the Japanese one is different then the North American standard. However, I don't believe that is what PS refers to since its signigicantly smaller then HP. Does anyone have a definative answer? ...Richard ------------------------------ From: uunet!suite.suite.com!dekorte Date: Fri, 3 Nov 95 09:17:55 -0800 Subject: Re: MRJ > In my opinion, the MRJ is butt-ugly! Agreed. The body looks more like a cross between a Mazda Miata and a Dodge Viper. I'd like to see a successor to the MR2 that was styled after the Lotus designs - as the MKI was. Thanks for all of your help - I was debating between Eagle GT's, Potenza's, and Yok's. I got the Yokohamas -AVS U+4 205/60/14's in all four corners and it handles like a dream - even better than I thought. I cannot believe I lived without a this car for so long! Alas, I need a clutch soon - within 5k. Any advice ? I was looking at the TRD catalog and they show a perf package clutch for the 85's. Anyone have any experiance with them or other clutch's for the 85's ? Thanks in advance for all your help - it's a great resource for a new owner to a car that needs a little TLC ! Oh yeah, just today had my Sony CD player installed - not a skip no matter how hard I try. If anyone is needing stereo/alarm installation in So. Cal - do yourself a favor - MOBILWORKS. Great installers. How does everyone do sound in theirs - I will probalbly resort to having custom molds put in the doors for 5 inch mids, tweeters up front in the factory slots and the sub is still a yet -to-be-determined where the hell it goes item. Amp will go in the back. Any ideas out there? Ed Hannigan Ed Hannigan Hannigan and Associates racerx@hannigan.com ------------------------------ End of mr2-digest V1 #22
