About This Web Site

How It All Started
In October 1994, I attended the now defunct U.S. MR2 Club's field event in
Napa Valley, California.
I had a fabulous time and during the event, I was bitten by the "modification" bug after viewing
all the different cars there and this set me off on a quest to find information on how to modify my
Mister Two.
About this same time I was playing around with Web servers and HTML programming as part of my work.
After learning HTML and setting up a Web server, I soon realized that I could use these tools
to organize and catalog all the MR2 information I had been collecting, and at the same time, offering
this information to all the great people on the MR2 Interest
Mailing List.
Thus, the Toyota MR2 World Wide Web Archive was born!
MR2.COM
After I learned that it was possible to set up virtual Web servers on one machine, I quickly set this
up and proceeded to register the MR2.COM domain to our local
Victoria MR2 Owners' Club.
The Development Machine
![[Image of Amiga]](./PICTURES/amiga.jpg)
I currently do all my Web page development on my
Amiga 3000 system pictured
above. A complete copy of the MR2 Web site resides on my Amiga and all changes are made to this copy
of the site. The changes are then transfered to the Web server pictured below.
The tools I use for development are:
- AWeb II browser
- Vim, a VI clone (YES, I use VI! I'm a programmer! :-)
- Weblint
- Various graphics conversion/editing software (NetPBM)
- Anything else that gets the job done
The Server Machine
The www.mr2.com server is currently running under the Netscape Web Server software on Salsgiver Engineering's SGI box.
