This a quick picture of the plug during the construction phase. I hope that it helps give you an idea of the looks. Ignore the Body filler etc. As the mold is made from this hood then the fiberglass parts are then produced from the mold. There is still a bunch of work to do but the ducts are both molded, now I have to block out the hood and produce a mold for the hood, again, as the first one warped.
The ducts totally eliminate the front compartment. If the ducts are attached to the hood the the hood must be lifted off vertically to clear the ductwork. It may be possible to reverse hinge the hood but it will be close. I designed the ducts to be divergent? , increase in volume as they progress up the hood so as to produce a vacuum at the exit.
They also reach right down the front bulkhead with about a 1" ( 2.5 cm ) gap. I plan on selling the ducts individually, seperate from the hood but included with the fiberglass hood, or attached to the fiberglass hood.
I plan on selling them with quality at the racecar part level. meaning no substructure / possible latch mounts and hinge mounts. But these would seem almost silly as with the ducts attached they can';t be used anyway.
Let me know what you think, and I'll look into getting some prices on producing them. They will be white gelcoat, with 2 layer 1 1/2oz. matt.
Only the top will be finished with gel coat.
Thanks and happy hotrodding.
